Blog 41

I cannot stand working on something so hard, and not getting a good grade on it.  It’s even worse when you worked so hard, and thought you did well on it, but when you get the results, it’s disappointing.  At least when you don’t work hard, and your work reflects that, you know that’s what you deserved, and you know that you can just improve next time, but when you don’t know what else you can possibly do next time in order to get a better grade, that is what frustrates me.  There is nothing worse than that.
I was up until 4:30am last night/this morning studying for a midterm that I have in psychology and a quiz I had this morning in math.  I think I did okay on the math quiz.  I still have to study more for psychology, which I have at 1:30 this afternoon, but I think that I pretty much have everything down.  I hope my hard work pays off for all of this.  Obviously I am tired, and I just want to sleep, but as soon as I get back from my midterm, I have to work on my common place draft, so I won’t be able to.  I also have a big test for ROTC tomorrow morning.  It’s a physical fitness test.  It’s a big deal, we have been waking up at 5am twice a week, every week in preparation for this test, so it’s something I definitely would like to do good on.  The leaders keep saying, “Get plenty of rest for the test.”  I think that they forgot that we are college students at Ohio State.  There is no way I will make it to bed by 9 tonight in order to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep.  There is way too much to do.

  1. are you pissed about working hard for a low grade because of the paper grades?

  2. Amen Joel! My older friends have told me that the first quarter is always tough because you are trying to get used to so many new things at once (and believe me, I don't think a physical fitness test would fit into that right now!) but I have worked hard my entire life for grades. I am a very willing learner, I guess I don't like going down every avenue possible to do that and still coming up short at times! Teach me, I want to do this! Don't make me guess!

  3. I agree! I have been studying so much and putting so much time into my work and I feel like it is not helping at all.

  4. Isn't it a bummer? I recently had that same problem with a math class I was taking. I was trying hard and wasn't receiving the grades I thought I deserved for all the effort put in. I ended up dropping the class since I had four anyways. Sometimes I wish I wouldn't have dropped it. I don't like quitting, but I didn't feel the class would benefit me.

Good luck with everything. You seem dedicated and so I think you'll push through anything in your way. (:

  5. I completely agree! I feel that way with this English class. I was so disheartened by the drafts that I feel I didn't do as well on the paper

  6. I always think why I can't get a good grade if I don't study. I want to take a break and get a good grade... However, it's impossibleㅜㅠ
